Save the Date: National Coming Out Day Block Party
The Historic Fruit Loop is throwing a homecoming—and you’re invited. On Saturday, Oct. 11, 2025, from 6–11 p.m., Las Vegas’s beloved LGBTQ+ district will host the National Coming Out Day Block Party, a free, outdoor celebration of visibility, authenticity, and community pride. This year’s event carries special significance: it follows the Nevada Legislature’s formal recognition of the Fruit Loop as a historic landmark, honoring the neighborhood’s decades-long role as a safe space and cultural hub for LGBTQ+ people and allies.
Festivities begin with a ceremonial ribbon cutting led by State Sen. Fabian Doñate, who championed the Fruit Loop’s new designation. It’s a moment that recognizes what so many already know: the Fruit Loop isn’t just a destination—it’s a living archive of local LGBTQ+ history, a corridor of clubs and community where generations have found joy, support, and chosen family.
From there, the block party swings into full celebration mode with live entertainment featuring the casts of Gipsy and Piranha Nightclub, alongside performers from the Las Vegas Strip, local DJs, musicians, and more. Expect high energy, big talent, and a lineup that showcases the many creative voices that call this neighborhood home. (A full entertainment schedule will be announced soon.)
Beyond the stage, the event expands into a vibrant community footprint. Attendees can explore a community garden and resource fair with food trucks, LGBTQ+ vendors, and resource booths staffed by local nonprofits and community partners. In alignment with the district’s long-standing commitment to advocacy and wellbeing, on-site rapid HIV testing will be available—affirming that celebration and community care go hand-in-hand.
“The recognition of the Fruit Loop as a historic landmark is more than a designation—it’s a testament to the generations who built this community, found joy here and made this space a home,” says Garrett Pattiani, creative director of Gipsy. “We are thrilled to celebrate this history with the community on National Coming Out Day, honoring the past while looking forward to an even brighter and more inclusive future.”
Why National Coming Out Day Matters
Observed every year on October 11 since 1988, National Coming Out Day (NCOD) is a day of visibility and empowerment for the LGBTQ+ community. For many, it marks a personal milestone—the first time they share who they are with friends, family, coworkers, or the world. For others, it’s a chance to honor those moments of truth and to stand in solidarity with people who can’t safely be out.
NCOD also serves a broader purpose. Visibility helps demystify, humanize, and connect, reminding everyone that LGBTQ+ people are part of every neighborhood, every industry, and every family. In that spirit, the Fruit Loop’s NCOD Block Party is both celebration and statement: a festive, public affirmation that Las Vegas’s queer community is not only present, but proudly shaping the culture of the city.
The Fruit Loop’s Historic Presence
Long before hashtags and headline campaigns, the Fruit Loop was where Las Vegas’s queer nightlife and community built roots. Anchored by pioneering venues and sustained by countless nights of performance, protest, fundraising, and fellowship, the district became a place where people could gather openly, grow networks of care, and create culture on their own terms. Recognizing the Fruit Loop as a historic landmark acknowledges that these streets and spaces didn’t just host good times; they nurtured a movement.
Over the years, the Fruit Loop’s role has evolved alongside the city, but its core ethos remains the same: show up, be yourself, and support one another. From nightlife to nonprofit outreach, the block is a crossroads where entertainment and advocacy meet—making it a fitting home for Las Vegas’s NCOD celebration.
